Agathonisi is a small and beautiful island with amazing beaches,  a peaceful destination for those who wish for quiet holidays away from noisy tourism sites.
Its name comes from the character of its residents.  The word “agathos” refers to someone who has a kind heart.

Agathonisi belongs to the cluster of the Dodecanese and is the most northern island in the group. The island is located between Samos and Patmos.




Getting there

By ferry-boat

Agathonisi  is connected to the port of Piraeus. Also there is connection with other ports of Dodecanese group.

Accommodation

Over the years, many tourists visit this unspoiled paradise. Consequently, the tourism infrastructure have been developed. The holidaymaker can find a great number of rooms to let.



Beaches

Agathonisi is surrounded by beautiful beaches.

*In the sheltered bay of Agios Georgios, the bathers can enjoy the swimming and the sunbathing in the crystal water of the island. This area doesn’t provide the visitors with facilities, such as umbrellas or sunbeds.

* Poros  beach  is one of the few sandy beaches on the island without tourism amenities.
*Spilia beach is a pebbled beach with clear blue waters.

There are several other virgin beaches that you can explore, especially if you are nature-lovers, mostly accessible by car, but some only on foot.

Sightseeing

At the east side of the island the visitor can admire the “Tholoi” (Domes), dating back to the 11th century AD and were probably used for storing food supplies. According to a legend    there is a huge cave which leads to tunnels , connecting one side of the island with the other.

Local Products

The residents deal with fishing so the holidaymakers can savour healthy dishes with fresh fish.
